Planning

We guide our clients through every stage of the planning and development process. This includes undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) and full Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), followed by the preparation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) for the build phase, and Landscape and Environmental Management Plans (LEMP) to ensure the long-term success of any required mitigation. We also deliver Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) surveys and provide expert advice, alongside habitat management and monitoring plans.

We provide technical ecological advice across the full range of protected species services, including survey, assessment, licencing and mitigation, including in-house scheme design and build services for any mitigation works.

Our team are highly skilled and licensed in badger survey and licensing, including bait marking surveys, CL35 Badger development licensing (fast application), artificial badger sett creation, sett exclusion and closure works.

ECOW

Effective project delivery depends on early ecological oversight, and our Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) service is designed to help planning and consultancy teams meet compliance requirements without delaying progress on site.

Our ECoW support ensures compliance with planning conditions & protected species legislation, provides on-site supervision during sensitive works, and real-time mitigation advice to keep programmes on track.

Design

Habitat Works builds net gain and long-term environmental value into projects by embedding ecological thinking into every stage of landscape design. Our understanding of native species and locally characteristic habitats allows us to create landscapes that connect naturally with surrounding biodiversity networks.

Our Landscape Management Plans then support these designs with clear, practical management actions, helping to ensure that newly created habitats establish successfully and thrive over the long term. Our in-house environmental contracting service is skilled at implementing these plans, with the added benefit of being able to work closely with our ecologists throughout.
